White Furniture from a Visual Point of View
White Adirondack chairs are easy to find and very popular for a number of reasons, many of which have to do with how they look. Much of patio furniture is white because for one thing white connotes a fresh, new and calming feeling. From a logistical standpoint, white is easy to match. By painting wood furniture white, you won't have to worry about the natural color and grain of the wood clashing with your other furniture or the deck itself. That's because different species of wood have various levels of light and dark, warm and cool tones. When all different woods are paired together the look can be disharmonious.

The Science of White
We often see many white Adirondack chairs in backyards and around swimming pools. It's not because everyone got the memo. Rather, white reflects the highest amount of sunlight, meaning the chair stays cooler by absorbing less heat, meaning in turn, that you stay cooling when you're sitting in it. You might buy dark colored furniture (example: wrought iron) the winter before because it looks elegant, and the salesman quoted you a good price. What they won't tell you is how hot to the touch that furniture will get once summer rolls around. Plus, furniture painted with dark colors will show more signs of fading than light colors.

Painted Wood is Easy to Maintain
Caring for white Adirondack chairs is not a big job, and in some ways it's simpler than with other types of furniture. For one, the paint serves to protect the surface of the wood from rot and warping. Second, white furniture in particular isn't subject to fading, because it's as light as it's ever going to be. In fact, keeping furniture out in the sun to bleach will only improve the brightness of the white. The only foreseeable problems with white Adirondack chairs is that, like anything white, it shows dirt and dust more. However, these can be wiped away using soap and water or a mild wood detergent.
